Biography

William G. Causey, Jr., graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Law, and was admitted to practice in North Carolina in 1988. He was subsequently admitted to practice in Federal Court in 1991 and Board Certified as a Specialist in Federal and State Criminal Law in 1996. Only a small percentage of the Attorneys licensed by the State of North Carolina are designated as Board Certified Specialists. Mr. Causey is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, NC Bar Association, The High Point Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
In addition to being a Board Certified Specialist in State and Federal Criminal Law, Mr. Causey is also a former Assistant District Attorney.
Mr. Causey’s practice includes criminal defense as well as Personal Injury. A large part of his practice is devoted to Driving While Impaired (DWI) and murder cases. He has handled over 70 murder cases to date with the majority involving the death penalty and capital punishment. Personal Injury cases include auto accidents and wrongful death claims.
Mr. Causey was the defense attorney in the 1991 case of the State of North Carolina vs. D. Combs, the infamous “coma case”. Mr. Causey’s client was found not guilty of attempted murder and they subsequently appeared as guests on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Other areas of practice include handling speeding tickets and traffic violations, all major felonies, jury trials, misdemeanor cases, drug and narcotic offenses, expungements, sexual offenses, and appeals to the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court.
